Term 3
It is hard to believe that we are already into Term 3. As I visit each of the classrooms it is so wonderful to see our students so engaged in their learning and to see how much their learning has progressed over the year. The work that each classroom is doing in the area of phonics and sentence level writing as a part of our English Curriculum has yielded significant improvements in student's ability to spell, create well-structured sentences, increased their grammar and vocabulary knowledge and contributed to some of the best handwriting I have ever seen. Our whole school mid-year data has also indicated that the teachers' commitment to doing this work on a daily basis has impacted student achievement in a most positive way.
Our Year 3 and 5 NAPLAN results also show that our student cohorts are outperforming the state and network schools in most of the domains with us achieving similar results to the other network schools in the other domains.
Congratulations to our teachers and students on these results.
This term will be another busy one with lots of activities and events ahead to compliment our teaching and learning programs. Some of these include Athletics, Yr 2 Sleepover, Responsible Pet Ownership, P-2 Mini-Olympics, Whole-School African Culture Incursion, Book Week, Art Expo and Footy Day- just to name a few.
TheirCare
We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new TheirCare Coordinator for Lockington Consolidated School. Our new coordinator will look very familiar to many of you because it is our very own Jane Pangrazio! Jane has been working in our school as an Education Support person for the past 2 years and is well loved by our students and valued by our staff. We are confident that Jane will not only bring stability to the role as a permanent supervisor for afterschool care at our school, but also provide students who attend the absolute best in care and an exciting program. We encourage families who

We have very few students using this service and now that we have secured such a wonderful coordinator, we do not want to risk losing this service.
Howzat!!!!
Over the holiday break our very tired (and virtually unusable) cricket pitch received a significant revamp. The pitch is now in tip top condition and ready for use (if we can just find it through the fog). These works had been in the pipeline for some time and the funding for the new pitch was made possible by our building and grounds funding which is often boosted by P&F fundraising. We are confident it will be well utilised by our students for many years to come.
Book Week Celebrations
This is advance notice for families regarding our annual Book Week Activity Day. Book Week will be held in Week 7 of Term 3 and we will have our annual dress up parade, special assembly and classroom activities on Friday August 28th. The theme for this year is Symphony of Stories. Students are invited to come along to school dressed as a book character. Families are invited to watch us parade in the BER and stay for assembly. This will begin at 9am.
School Council News
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday August 18th at 7pm. This is a meeting over Webex and the meeting link will be sent to all council members with the agenda.
