What's happening in Term 3?

Inquiry - Frame by Frame

This term, students will be unleashing their inner directors as we dive into the world of Stop-Motion Animation! This hands-on unit will challenge them to think creatively as they explore different ways to tell stories and bring their ideas to life.

Throughout the term, the students will:

  • Plan & Script: Create a simple narrative and learn how to map it out using a storyboard.
  • Design & Build: Construct their own unique characters and mini production sets.
  • Produce & Edit: Learn the art of frame-by-frame photography and editing using the Stop Motion Studio application.

We can't wait to see their final films hit the "big screen" later this term!

Here are some photos of us as we begin out unit. We investigated the symbols used within Indingenous stories and matched the word to its symbol.

We also created our own 'Flip Books' where we made a mini animation using drawing and a sticky note book.

Education in Faith

This term, our Faith studies will guide students to look outward at the world and reflect on how they can make a positive impact. We will be diving into the life and inspiring travels of our patron saint, St Francis Xavier, exploring how his missionary work helped grow the early Catholic Church. The students will reflect on his teachings to discover real, practical ways they can show discipleship within our own school and parish community today.

Alongside this history, we will be exploring Catholic Social Teaching values, such as caring for the poor and treating everyone equally, to help us make fair and caring choices.

Literacy: Journeying Through Charlotte's Web

Our class is diving into the wonderful world of literature this term as we read E.B. White’s classic novel, Charlotte’s Web. The students will engage in explicit daily reading and writing practices. Over the coming weeks, we will be building our vocabulary, sharpening our reading comprehension, and analysing the deeper themes of the text. This rich novel study will also serve as the perfect catalyst for our writing, as students learn to craft high-quality, structured responses and creative pieces inspired by the story.
