1/2LT

Ms Laura & Ms Terri

Welcome

Welcome to Term 3. We hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and is feeling refreshed for another busy, joyful term of learning. The children have already settled back into routines beautifully, and we’re looking forward to the exciting events coming up over the next few weeks.

This term we’ll be hosting Prayers in Pyjamas, on August 6th. A special tradition where students come dressed in their cosiest PJs as we gather for prayer, reflection, and community. It’s always a highlight and a lovely way to bring faith and comfort together. We hope you can make it.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we journey through Term 3 together.

Barry and Frank

Barry and Frank have had their first weekends with our 1/2 families.

Barry spent the weekend with Madison.

Madison liked having Barry come along and see her toys at home. Barry had fun jumping on the trampolines at Bounce and eating Mc Donald's for dinner.

Frank spent the weekend with Eadie. He watched her play netball, met her cats and visited her cousins. He particularly enjoyed having his beard combed.

Barry and Frank look forward to visiting all the 1/2LT families over the next few months.

Literacy

Our Grade 1 reading groups have been buzzing with energy this term. Students have been working hard to strengthen their decoding skills, and we’ve been revisiting several important consonant and vowel digraphs including - ch, th, sh, ng, oo/oo, ck and ay/ai. The children have enjoyed the change to the activities groups and have been enthusiastically participating in their different activities.

This term, during writing, the Grade 1's are learning about Narrative writing. We have been reading through the much loved Grug books by Ted Prior. So far we have been learning about the structure of narratives, characters and settings.

Maths

Our Grade 2 students have been building strong number skills this term through skip counting and early multiplication concepts. We’ve been practising skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. They have also been investigating arrays and identifying columns and rows.

Inquiry

This term the Grade 1/2's are putting creative thinking into action in Inquiry. You can ask them all the ways a spoon, umbrella or broom can be used, and they will give you more ideas than you can imagine! In these pictures they are making and showing off their fascinating fascinators.
