Today marks World Teachers’ Day and it was fabulous to see how our Oakleigh Grammar students responded in support of their teachers, and other members of staff who support them. When teachers and all the general staff arrived at school today, they found on their desk or in their pigeonhole, a personally handwritten card of appreciation and a small bag of lollies to help them get through the day.

It is becoming a bit of a tradition at Oakleigh Grammar to be a little creative in the way the students decide to acknowledge their teachers, and this year was no different. The Middle School and Senior School SRC, Year 5 students and other volunteers have been busily bringing together all the various parts.  A great number of students have made contributions – writing and decorating the 150 cards making sure each one matched the traits and qualities of the staff member, labelling envelopes, placing all the cards in the envelopes and adding stickers, donating the chocolates and sweets or helping to make all the bags of goodies.

The appreciation of our students and their willingness to step in and help to make sure our staff were acknowledged were clearly on display.
