At PMPS, we're all about looking after our planet and each other – and our recent events like Nude Food Day and Tree Planting Day have been fun, hands-on ways to do just that! Next up is the Winter Coat Drive.
What outstanding participation we had across the school for our first Nude Food Day at PMPS! Members of the Junior Waste Warriors visited every class at snack eating time to tally the number of lunchboxes free from single use plastic. We were impressed that our count exceeded 450 students, which was roughly 80% of students in attendance that day! Bravo PMPS families!
The class prize for the most nude food lunchboxes was an epic fruit smoothie party, which 5CD was awarded! Miss Sarah visited Joe at Frank’s F&V stall at South Melbourne Market, who kindly donated loads of fruit for making fruit smoothies. We are extremely grateful for Joe’s kindness and generosity!
Our Junior Waste Warriors eagerly cut the fruit in preparation for creating fruit smoothies for our winning class.
Recipe sharing
The Junior Waste Warriors are currently working on some recipe sharing to continue the promotion of nude food lunchboxes. If you have a well-loved recipe in your household, please share it with us and we’ll add it to our collection.

Last Thursday, 5AB enjoyed a special walking excursion to Turner Reserve in Port Melbourne, to participate in a Tree Planting Day organised by the Port Phillip EcoCentre. Students planted around 400 plants, helping to create a greener space for our local community and wildlife! It was a valuable hands-on experience that highlighted the importance of caring for our environment. Great work, 5AB!
Junior Waste Warriors would like to invite you to take part in our Winter Coat Drive. Take a look in your cupboards at home … do you have a spare winter coat that you haven’t worn this winter and realise you probably don’t need it? You could donate it and help someone who needs it more than you! Go on, channel your inner Marie Kondo and give your pre-loved coats an acknowledgement for the warmth and joy they’ve brought you, a hug goodbye and then bring it to the school office to donate it and make a difference to someone else this year.
We welcome clean coats for any age - children or adults.
Drop your pre-loved coats to the box in the school office any time during the next two weeks: 1-14th August.
We will bring your pre-loved coats to The Salvation Army Melbourne for distribution to those who need them more.
You’re invited to join our upcoming street gardening sessions at Port Melbourne Primary's Pollinator Garden on Poolman St.
Heartscapes will coordinate the sessions. Sign up here if you can attend any (or all) of the following Saturdays:
