From the Classroom - M2 (Mrs Brown)

M2 has had a busy start to Term Two! Students have returned after the holidays ready for another amazing term of learning.

In Maths, M2 have been learning about addition and subtraction. We started by practising subitising (looking at a group of dots or objects and knowing how many there were without counting them) and then revised our 'Friends of Ten'. This week we are looking at doubles and near doubles and adding two-digit numbers before using subtraction to solve money problems.

To help consolidate our learning, we did an activity called 'The Foot Parade'. Students were given pictures of animals with legs ranging from one to eight legs. Their challenge was to create a foot parade containing a total of 12 legs. Some students had an extra challenge of making a total of 18 legs. There were many different ways to create the 12 legs and students did a great job of showing how they put their foot parade together.
