Principal's Report

Student Uniform
One of the factors that identify our students as being members of the Hampton Secondary College learning community is the agreed uniform that has been established for students attending our College. The current uniform for our students has come about as a result of lengthy engagement of parents and carers, students, Teachers, and College Council. It has come about through lengthy consultation and discussion with all groups in the College including staff. Following this extensive consultation process our uniform was published in order for members to be well aware of the expectations of them as members of our community. Our revised uniform is modern, looks smart and has been positively commented on by members of the wider community.
Over recent times, some members of the community have become complacent in the way in which they wear our uniform and others have attended the College without being dressed in the full College uniform. Such attitudes let their fellow students and staff down, especially when our students are representing the College out in the community, where we are always ‘on show’.
Year Level Managers have recently reported that in each year level, there remains a handful of students who, despite being reminded of their obligation to wear our uniform and wear it with pride, especially when out in the wider community and representing our college, fail to wear our uniform as required of them.
In response, we have implemented a blitz where all students found to not following our requirements of them, will be withdrawn from class and given a very limited time to obtain the right uniform. Where possible, parents or carers will be contacted and provided with an opportunity to bring the correct uniform item(s) up to the College so that their child can return to class quickly.
Wearing uniform is not a choice, it is a requirement of all who are enrolled with us.
I look forward to seeing all students in full school uniform next week and evidencing the sense of pride in their school that should be shown by all students.
