House competition

We warmly welcome back all our students from Years 7 to 12 on site for the remaining weeks of Term 2.

Despite the restrictions in place which impact interschool sport for the moment there are still other opportunities to remain active. As we know, being physically active has many benefits to our overall health and wellbeing. Remaining physically active is important to one's overall health and wellbeing – as well as supporting your learning. The School Sport Victoria (SSV) website has a number of different ideas and links to ways in maintaining physical activity. This can be found here SSV suggestions on being physically active.

Virtual Cross Country

Although our MGSC virtual cross country event is completed, SSV is running a similar campaign. Information and submissions can be found here SSV Virtual Cross Country Information.

House Points

Throughout the coming term you will see other initiatives that will run across the school in various subject areas that award house points. All of these initiatives will contribute to the overall 2020 House Shield so be sure to get involved if they appeal to you.

House mascot competition

Our House mascot design competition is still running and closes on Monday 22 June. That means there’s just over a week left for you to finish and submit your designs to https://forms.gle/q8LKvLU6nYXDcAVq5

The House Leaders have loved seeing all your brilliant designs come in, and we would love to see even more! Remember that each valid design earns 10 house points, and the winner earns both the honour of having their design become the new house mascot and of earning another 100 points for their house.

The current house point standings are:

  • Jackson: 70
  • Kenny: 50
  • McKellar: 50
  • Melba: 40

Unfortunately we have had to deduct some house points due to the design not being original work, so please remember that this competition is a great way to show off your original designs. Considering the amount of hard work put into designing a mascot, it would be unfair to accept any design that has been copied, traced, or recoloured from the internet. It’s ok to use a picture to help you visualise your design, but unfortunately we cannot accept any design that is not original work.
