Acting Assistant

Principal Report

Term Four has certainly gone quickly and I feel like it was only yesterday that I was given the opportunity to step into this role and it is already nearly over! I feel like this is true of the year, really, as it has meshed together with a Pandemic, two rounds of Remote Learning and other unusual events that have made it one to remember, or forget, as the case may be!

Firstly, thanks to Trevor McClure for allowing me to step up into this role and work so much more closely with everyone at Edenhope College. I think we often get wrapped up in putting our head down and focussing on the work that needs to be done, without always seeing the bigger picture. While that is not always a bad thing, this role has certainly opened my eyes to seeing what that bigger picture is, which has been fantastic.

I have really enjoyed being able to get to know a lot of the students, particularly in younger year levels so much more. Being a Senior School teacher has meant that I don’t always have a lot do with the younger levels, so I have really loved this opportunity.

As I said before, this role has allowed me to see more of the workings of the school and it has been great being part of the entire process of the future of the school, setting things up for the year ahead and the coming years beyond. This will allow the school to grow and become an even better learning facility for all of our students, which is what we are all here for. There will no doubt be challenges, but the learning from these and the subsequent successes will shine bright and I cannot wait to hear all about them.

In this role, there were days that were challenging and busy (even more so being pregnant!) but I really enjoyed this role and it has been a privilege to work more closely with all those in our school community. I unfortunately won’t be able to fulfil the Acting Assistant Principal role in Term One while the leadership team is selected, as I am due to have a baby at some point over the holidays and will hence be on Maternity Leave next year. But whoever steps into the role in the interim will no doubt continue to lead the school into the future to allow every one of our students the capacity to achieve whatever they dream of.

Good luck to everyone in the Edenhope College community for 2021. I’m not leaving the area, just having some time off school and I’m sure that with all the great things going on, I won’t be able to stay away!
