Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser Day
Edenhope College held the annual Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser on Thursday December 10. Students and staff got into the spirit by participating in a red themed casual clothes day.
A fantastic choice of goodies was available from the canteen at recess and lunchtime.
Staff and students at the College and at St Malachy's also enjoyed lunch from the canteen. An incredible $1385.20 was raised for this fabulous cause.
Thank you to all who made it such a success!
School Wide Positive Behaviour - Roowards
Several students reaped the benefits of their good work by cashing in their roowards at the Rooward shop. Year 9 students Luke Braithwaite and Jaali Brennan each cashed in 30 roowards for a $10 voucher from Edenhope Takeaway.
Year 5 student Shefa Iqbal traded her roowards in for a teddy bear and still had almost enough left over (but not quite) to exchange for a voucher which required Mr McClure to wear a tutu for a day, so watch out in 2021!
Whole School Transition Day
On Tuesday December 8, students experienced a day in their 2021 class cohorts. Edenhope College welcomed the Foundation students of 2021 to school for their first full day. The transitioning Year 6s from the College, St Malachy's and Apsley Primary School spent their second full day together.
Various activities were enjoyed across the year levels - from farm fun with Foundations, paper mache madness with the Year 3/4's making hot air balloons to an online comedic session with Mama Dojo's Sean Murfy who taught the Year 3-6's all about Christmas traditions around the world and kept students highly entertained!
Year 5/6 students got busy with a 25 minute challenge. Super Stapler Elias, with the assistance of Captain Levi organized the paper chain team who made a record breaking supersized 40m paper chain!
Year 7 students got a taster of some of the lessons they'll have on their timetable in 2021. Students enjoyed PE, Art, Food Technology, Science and Humanities.
Reheating Station and Lunch Order Success
Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who have given their time to enable students at Edenhope College the opportunity to toast their sandwich and reheat their lunch.
Thank you also to Kings Katering for providing a weekly lunch order service. This has been greatly appreciated by staff and students at Edenhope College.
Both of these provisions have been a wonderful addition to our school community. We look forward to continuing this in 2021.

Goodbye from Mrs Neall
To the Students at Edenhope College,
Almost 20 years ago, when I was in Year 12, I ran for School Captain. When it came time to deliver my speech to the student body at a morning assembly, I looked straight into the crowd and proclaimed, “You should vote for me, because….well, I love you. I love you all”.
Everyone laughed at me.
I then proceeded to pick individual students out of the crowd and told them exactly what I liked about them.
For example, If I was to give the same speech today, I would tell Albert that I secretly enjoy his mischievous pranks, Mim that I love her ‘blonde’ questions, and Georgia that I am in awe of her ability to hear a door squeaking 3 kilometers away and then continually focus on the sound until somebody “adequately addresses the problem!”
You see, in the lead up to the vote, I made it my business to get to know as many students at Edenhope College as possible. Needless to say, I won the Captaincy by margins that even Trump wouldn’t be able to contest.
But now, after 15 years of teaching at Edenhope College I find myself coming full circle. Over that time, I have come to know so many of you so well and now I want to tell you, the students of Edenhope College, how much I appreciate you.
I would assume it is quite a rare thing for a person to be able to say, that after 15 years of employment at the same workplace, that they have enjoyed nearly every day. But I am so happy to say that this has been my reality. It has not been the facilities, the holidays, the socialising in the staff room, or even the pay that has kept myself and my family here so long- it is the weird and wonderful young people that fill the corridors of this little school everyday.
Even on my worst mornings, the students of Edenhope College have always been able to bring a smile to my face and this is a gift that I have always endeavored to return.
For many of you, you have allowed me to do this by placing your trust in me, not only on your good days but especially during the bad.
When you told me your stories of loss, together we searched for comfort. When you were stressed, we created manageable goals. When you made mistakes, we found ways to make amends. When you struggled to learn, we tried new things.
And we have always, always, celebrated your success. It is at these times, when I am most proud.
To the past and present students of Edenhope College, believe me when I say, it has been my utmost privilege to walk with you, even for a short while, on what I hope will be, a long and rewarding life journey.
I wish you all the best for the future and I hope that you continue to grow in your understanding, of the opportunities that the gift of education can provide you.
Work hard, stay strong, ask for help when you need it and reach your goals!
Much love. I will miss you all.
