SCSA Triathlon
On Tuesday 22 April, we were privileged to participate in the SCSA Triathlon held in Geelong. With a perfect sunny day there were smiles all around and an excellent effort from everyone involved.
We had our Senior and Intermediate teams place fourth and our Junior team was first, which resulted in Kilbreda placing fourth overall!
In the Junior race, Jacinta Crowley finished first and Celine Incani fourth. In the Intermediate race, Kate Golby finished 10th and in the Senior race, Chloe Joughin was eighth and Michaela Meyer was ninth.
Another highlight was Megan Jenkins, Alexia Ritzert and Chloe Joughin completing their last triathlon with Kilbreda today as they are in Year 12 and have competed in the Triathlon every year since Year 7! A special mention must also go to Emily Roberts who was unable to join us today.
A big thank you to Mrs Clark, Mrs Wood, Ms Smyth, Mrs A and Tilly for the crucial encouragement during the training and races; we couldn’t have done it without you!

SCSA Sport Leaders Breakfast
On Tuesday 15 February, the Year 12 Sport Leaders were invited to an SCSA Breakfast along with students from other SCSA schools. We arrived at MSAC bright and early for breakfast. As the rush for food was over we sat down as the conference began. To our surprise we had a very important guest speaker, Jelena Dokic, commentator, coach, writer and former tennis player.
Jelena went into great detail about her challenging life, from fleeing a country, to facing physical, mental and emotional abuse from her father. Her story is truly inspirational. To get through what she got through with no support is unbelievable.
She taught us about the importance of making sure we are supportive of our peers, as you never know what anyone is going through. We, as leaders, have taken these skills back to the College and will create a more comfortable environment for people to speak out.
It was an extraordinary experience and we are very grateful to have had the opportunity.

House Swimming Carnival
The House Swimming Carnival takes place on Monday 28 February at Oakleigh Recreation Pool. Once again, we encourage all students to participate in as many events as possible and really get involved for their House. After an inspiring presentation from the House Leaders on Wednesday 23 February, we are all looking forward to our House Swimming Carnival!
SEGAP Sport
SEGAP sport is an afternoon program with OLSH College (Bentleigh), Sacred Heart Girls College (Oakleigh) and Killester College (Springvale). The games are played at Monash University in Term 2 and 3. The sports for Term 2 are Basketball, Badminton and Futsal.
Trials for these teams will start during Week 7. More information will be posted on SIMON over the next few weeks.
Football Umpiring Course
We had our first session on Monday afternoon and the Umpire Coordinator was very impressed with the enthusiasm and confidence of the participants.
Amelia, Lily, Jorja and Teagan blew their whistles and called “holding”, “dropping the ball”, “push in the back” and “tripping”.
If you would still like to participate in the program that takes place at the College then please email maree.clark@kilbreda.vic.edu.au
