Learning and Teaching

A few days ago I received a phone call from a friend whose daughter had just arrived home after attending her first day of University. She was excited about starting this new journey, but also very nervous. Throughout the day she had attempted to introduce herself to people in an effort to make connections, but by lunch time she was feeling a little lonely and isolated. When she was sitting by herself eating lunch outside a young lady came over to ask her name and invited my friend’s daughter to sit with her and her friends. It transpires that this friendly university student was a Kilbreda girl who was living the Kilbreda values beyond our College gates. She extended hospitality and demonstrated compassion by placing herself in the shoes of others and reaching out in strength and kindliness. The saying really is true – once a Kilbreda girl, always a Kilbreda girl.

“Begin with a voice of compassion,

a heart of love, an act of kindness.”

VCE and VCAL Information Evening

A parent evening is scheduled for Thursday 3 March at 7.00pm. More details will be emailed to families in the coming days.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN will be moving online this year. The Year 7 and Year 9 students will have an opportunity to practice the online version of the NAPLAN test on Tuesday 15 March and Thursday 24 March in preparation for the official NAPLAN tests in mid May. These practice tests provide an opportunity to test the technology capacity of both the school and the state and also provide opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the test features without any pressure of assessment.

Students undertaking NAPLAN will have a short presentation about the features of the online NAPLAN test in the weeks leading up to the practice sessions. Parents will also receive a letter with more details closer to the dates.
