Staff

As we move into the 2022 year, I would like to welcome the following new staff members who have joined the Kilbreda community.

Jessica Baddeley

Jessica joins us as Level Leader: Year 10 and teacher of Health and English. Jessica most recently worked at Our Lady of Sion College where she held the position of Year 11 Wellbeing and Growth Leader.

"When asked about where my inspiration to work in education comes from, my immediate response is my parents. Both are teachers themselves (I was fortunate to have my dad teach me when I was in Year 12) and are my greatest role models. I loved watching the positive impact they had on their students and hope to live up to their legacies some day."

Emma Chitre

Emma joins us as classroom teacher of French for Term 1. Emma has worked as a Casual Relief Teacher over the last 18 months so will be a familiar face to a number of students already. She started learning French at age 11 when her family moved to France for several months.

Her first impression of Kilbreda was how eager the students were to learn and how welcoming the staff were. She is excited to be undertaking her first ever teaching contract in such a supportive environment.

Clare Kelly

Clare joins us as Senior Pathways Leader and is a teacher of Health and Human Development and English. Clare most recently worked at Mercy College, Coburg where she held the position of Deputy Principal: Learning and Teaching.

When asked about her first impression of Kilbreda College she said, "It was the genuine welcome of both the staff and students. Staff and students are always willing to assist (there have been times I could not find the assigned room!) and to work with you. I am looking forward to teaching my classes and working with my students to assist them to clarify, question, learn and ultimately achieve their best."

Kara-Lee Rabbetts

Kara-Lee joins us as a classroom teacher of Music from Year 7 to VCE. Kara-Lee most recently worked at Lakes Grammar, NSW, but has also worked long term at Hillcrest Christian College, Berwick as the Secondary Music Coordinator. She has a background in classical piano and choral conducting, kodaly methodology, VET Music and Technology and has been the Musical Director of multiple productions.

When asked what she is looking forward to she said, "Joining the Performing Arts community and continuing to foster confidence and development in solo and ensemble performance."

During lockdown she used the opportunity to begin jazz piano lessons and is increasing her skills and interest in this genre.

Jacob Solomonsz

Jacob joins us as a classroom teacher of Psychology, Science and Mathematics. Jacob is a graduate teacher and has worked at Heatherton Christian College as a Learning Diversity Assistant.

When asked what his first impression of Kilbreda was he said "For a large school, there is a great sense of community. I was instantly welcomed by all the teachers as well as welcomed by the students and feel as if I have been here for years and years. I’m looking forward to learning new teaching strategies from the diverse teachers here and hope to build my teaching career at Kilbreda!"

Kylie Sheedy

Kylie joins us as the Senior Pathways and VASS Administrator (new role in 2022) and brings many years of experience in office administration in educational settings. Kylie most recently worked as Daily Organiser and Personal Assistant to the Deputy Principal at Flinders Christian Community College.

Kylie is looking forward to "learning college processes, developing my knowledge and skills, and learning from the students, their interests, community projects, outreach etc. I’m interested in learning more about what the staff and students are passionate about beyond simply the curriculum.

My first impression of Kilbreda is a welcoming and inclusive college with values that align with my own, and the staff embodys values of warmth, kindness and support for all."

In her spare time, Kylie makes amazing cakes for kids’ birthdays and her inspiration to work in education comes from "the satisfaction of playing some part in the educational advancement of others. I can support the students and role model a kind and supportive way of conducting oneself."
