What an amazing fortnight of hugely successful performances we have had! We are looking forward to entertaining you a lot more in the coming weeks as well!

PAST PERFORMANCES

Vocal Night

What an outstanding night of music this was on Tuesday 18 July. Thank you again to all the students who performed that night, to Katarina Vrisk and Paschal Lee for their attendance, and to Blanka West for her fantastic organisation. Thank you also to the MAV team, led by Nick Xanthoudakis, for making the kids look and sound amazing.

 

String Quartet – South Eastern Region 35 years Award Ceremony

Congratulations to the String Quartet for their performance at the 35 years awards ceremony in the South East Region, on Tuesday 25 July in Dingley. Amazing work by Kevin Jin 11G, Jenny Jung 12G, Phoebe Rodda 11L and Jack Sweeney 11N who make up the Senior Quartet, directed brilliantly by Clare Bugeja. 

 

Victorian State Music Festival

Congratulations to both the Keenan Strings, conducted by Stuart Cook, and to the School Orchestra, conducted by Tracy Videon, who both attained a Silver placing at the Victorian Schools Music Festival on Thursday 27 July. What an outstanding achievement for both ensembles. Thank you to all the students for their attendance, to the musical directors for their attention to detail, and to Georgina Mead (who also stepped in to conduct Keenan Strings at the last minute), Christine Vincent, Clare Bugeja and Bernadette Russo for their attendance of the excursion.

 

 

Wedding Singer – Thursday 27 July – Saturday 29 July 

What an incredible performance by the 80+ students involved in this Musical Production! The energy was electric, and the standard was outstanding! What a fitting way to farewell Lucy Angell, the extremely talented and versatile director and producer of the show! 

 

Thank you to the staff who helped make this a fantastic success: Megan Papworth, Ellie Adler, Natalie Same, Natalie Wood, David Graham, Michael Birkett, Caleb Goldwaser and Nick Xanthoudakis. 

General Assembly

Congratulations to the Wind Symphony, conducted by Tracy Videon, on an outstanding performance at the General Assembly held on Monday 31 July. The standard of playing was incredibly high for the assembled special guests! Well done! Congratulations to Hugo Tran Year 12 who sang the National Anthem at the start of the Assembly.

Brass Night

Congratulations to all the brass students who took part in the Brass Night held in the Theatre on Tuesday 1 August. What a fantastic performance from all of you! Thank you to Dmitry Serebrianik, Tracy Videon and Colleen Wurfel, who prepared all the students for the night, and to James Morrissey, Oliver Wiles and Ben Browne for their assistance during the show.

UPCOMING PERFORMANCES 

Winter Concert

This will be a showcase for all Instrumental Music students from Years 7 - Years 12 and will be held on Wednesday 30 August at Robert Blackwood Hall - Monash University. Tickets have now gone on sale and can be purchased through this direct link. 

 

Please note that students who are performing will not require a purchased ticket, a seat has been reserved for them.

Main campus (Auditorium) 

  • Wind Symphony - Tuesday after school (3:30 - 5pm) 
  • Choir (vocal students Years 10-12) - Thursday lunchtime
  • Orchestra - Thursday after school (3:30 - 5pm)

East campus (VG.1) (to start week beginning February 13)

  • East Campus Choir (Vocal students Years 8 - 9) Monday lunchtime
  • Keenan Strings - Monday after school (3:30 – 4:30pm)
  • Ovenden Band - Wednesday after school (3:30 – 4:30pm)

All other ensembles are by invitation and/or audition only, and dependent on ongoing commitment to the core ensemble.
