MATHS
WHAT'S GOING ON IN YEAR 8 ELMS
With only three Year 8 Maths ELMS classes, there aren’t many people to discuss the tests and topics with. At the beginning of Term 3, Miss Wiley’s class and Miss Murdoch’s class merged together, which has continued every Wednesday since the first week.
I’m in Miss Wiley’s Maths ELMS class and although in the first lesson I was a bit sceptical of combining with the other group, it’s actually been quite enjoyable. With two teachers’ up at the front teaching in their own techniques, it was interesting and useful to know varied ways each teacher uses to solve questions. Not only was the variety in teaching styles extremely helpful, but having a larger group of students to communicate with was as well.
Developing new friendships and evolving our methods in resolving maths problems are just two of the many benefits of combining two classes and having two teachers. I think it would be advantageous for other classes to do the same thing and perhaps they’ll feel the same way I do about it!
