CAPTAIN'S CORNER
SENIOR CAPTAIN
Although students are back in full swing with SACs and lots of study, this week has been jam-packed with various sport and musical activities. To start off the week, the Senior Girls Netball team took out the competition at the Southern Metropolitan Region championships, with their next challenge now to win the State Final later this year. We’re so proud of our girls and wish them all the best in this pursuit!
Along with this, McKinnon has been participating in the Victorian Volleyball Schools Cup this past week, with all year levels boasting a team in this prestigious tournament. We saw some stunning skills and powerful performances from all our athletes, leading to exceptional results for our teams representing the College, with a number of our teams qualifying for nationals in December.
If that’s not enough, the long-awaited musical, The Wedding Singer, has finally reached the stage after tireless efforts from the many students involved, and the tremendous work of staff and volunteers who made sure the audience each night was bedazzled by the magic, music and mayhem of this comedy.
Congratulations to all involved in these outstanding extracurricular pursuits, without whom these amazing events would not be possible. We all look forward to enjoying more of these achievements and opportunities as the year progresses and cannot wait to see what our amazing school achieves next.

JUNIOR CAPTAIN
We’re only into the third week of Term 3, and so much has happened already and even more is to come!
The Year 9s have jumped headfirst into their semester two elective subjects, sailing through subject introductions and jumping straight into new topics and projects. This has all come in due time, as Year 10 subject selections were posted on Tuesday 8 July. Students got to pick from an extensive range of fascinating subjects, such as Introduction to Engineering, Literature, French, Media and Chemistry. The Year 9s are eager to see what the Senior School will bring them, opening many new opportunities in learning, relationships and interests.
The next event lined up on the McKinnon calendar is the infamous Athletics Carnival, being held on Thursday 3 August. Students have the opportunity to participate in many of the sporting events such as sprints, discus and high jump. Although the weather is anticipated to be chilly, nothing will keep the McKinnon house spirit down and we hope to see much competition on the day! Remember to bring some money for food, as a sausage sizzle and bake sale will be running on the day to keep the energy levels high.
We look forward to another jam-packed term for all year levels, all keen to see what the Third term will bring us!
