From the   Principal's

Desk

Janine Kinninment

I have been with the Department of Education for 42 years, 18 of which have been as a school principal. I have decided that this is my final year as a principal and will be retiring in December.  My position will be advertised in the coming weeks on JobsWA with the aim to have the new principal known before the end of the school year. I have been truly blessed to have such a wonderful school as Burrendah as my last school. I look forward to continuing our great work together until the end of this year.

School Board

There will be 2 vacant parent representative positions for 2024 as these position tenures will end early 2024. Usually, we hold elections at the beginning of each year. This year the Board has decided to hold these elections in Term 4.  I encourage parents/carers to consider nominating for the Board.  If you would like to attend a meeting to see how the Board runs, our next face to face meeting is Wednesday 6th September from 6:00-7:30pm in the school hall.

Assemblies

We recommence assemblies next week with a Community Assembly hosted by Room 26 and Room 10.  An open classroom will follow the assembly for families of students of these two classrooms.  Our Faction Assembly, which commences on the 25th August will be held in Karrakin Block with a Pirate Dress up Day. Pirate Day is a gold coin fundraiser for children’s cancer. Parents/carers are welcome to attend to not only see our new under cover area but our wonderful pirate costumes. Assemblies commence at 8:50am.

Swimming Lessons

It has been a busy month of swimming lessons. Congratulations to students and staff on their efforts to keep classroom lessons running smoothly. Regardless of how many students were coming and going to swimming lessons the rest of the school was calm with students working hard in their classrooms.

Lost property

The lost property is increasing with a large number of jumpers and swimming items being left behind at school each day. I encourage parents/carers to view the items that will be on the stage in the undercover area next week.  Any items left prior to the community assembly on Friday 18th August will be donated to the P & C pre-loved uniform shop.

Nature Playground

You may be aware of the shade structure being installed in our Nature Playground. We are expecting the shade sails to be completed shortly.
