Walk and Wheel Wednesdays
Walk and Wheel Wednesdays is a whole school activity, with each class trying to have the most students either walking, wheeling or taking public transport to school. The winning class is awarded the Shoe Cup Trophy at each assembly. For those families who live far away from school, they can drive and walk some of the way.
As well as your class winning the prestigious Shoe Cup Trophy there are other benefits to walking or wheeling to school such as:
3/4R has been writing sensational poems to encourage students to walk and wheel to school
Walk and Wheel to school
because it is cool
meet a friend on the way
tell them what you have to say
at recess you can play
but you have to learn today
Poem by Lily 3/4R
Walk and Wheel is on Wednesday
Yes, that is today!
Make sure to walk
Make sure to wheel
and find your friends to talk and walk today
Poem by Scarlet 3/4R
FSR has produced some exceptional drawings to help influence others to walk to school
Important Date: Friday 24th March 2023 is National Ride to School Day.
On this day students are encouraged to ride their bike to school. This is to allow students to be active and to raise awareness about protecting our environment. On National Ride2School Day 2022, students across Australia saved 28 tonnes of CO2 by actively travelling to school.
For Ride2School Day to run smoothly it would be wonderful if we could have some parent helpers. On the Friday morning, we will need assistance in two areas.
On the Friday afternoon, it would be wonderful to have a couple of parents ensuring that students take home their own bike or scooter. It’s not hard for students to get a little confused when they are tired at the end of a busy week!
All parents who volunteer need to have their Working with Children's Check.
On Friday the times would be from 8.25 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. and then after school at 3.30 p.m.
Please contact Heidi Roast at heidi.roast@education.vic.gov.au if you are interested being a parent helper on the day.
