Performing Arts

2023

Hello and welcome to Performing Arts for 2023!

All students have settled in well to the Performing Arts space, including our new Foundation students. This term, students will be exploring different aspects of the Performing Arts, including Music, Drama and Dance, and considering the various elements that contribute to individual preferences, such as favourite songs, sounds or movements. Younger students will be exploring some of the instruments we have in the Performing Arts space and looking at different musical elements, including pitch, dynamics and tempo. Our senior students will have more of a drama focus as we begin preparations for our school production.

School Production

The big news this year is that we will be running a school production! This will be run as a whole-school event, involving all our students from Foundation through to Grade 6. Happening early in Term 3, stay tuned for details including how you may be able to get involved. We will be calling on our talented school community for help with various aspects of the school production, including prop and costume-making, so if this sounds like you, we will be in touch soon.

School Choir

All students who wish to will have the opportunity to be a part of a school choir. Choir rehearsals will commence in Week 4 of this term, day and time to be confirmed. All students are welcome.

Instrumental Music Lessons

Please remember that we offer private instrumental tuition at BPPS! We have several talented teachers, offering lessons on the piano, guitar, drums, violin, 'cello, flute and saxophone

We also have Sally Cameron returning to BPPS. She will be offering vocal lessons, please see below:

Dear Parents,

My name is Sally Cameron and I teach vocal lessons.

I began to sing before I could talk and haven’t stopped since!

If this sounds a little like your child then singing could be for them!

I have an extensive music teaching career that has included running private choirs, teaching music classes and running the music departments at Wesley College and Ivanhoe Grammar, to vocal teaching for 8 years at Kingswood College before arriving at BPPS.

Typically the best age to start singing is between the ages of 6-9 years. At this stage it is easy to pick up new skills and techniques much faster whilst having fun during the process.

I do have some vacancies at this stage.

Any questions feel free to contact me by phone or email.

Warm wishes
