Visual Art

Welcome back to Visual Art at Boroondara Park.

Foundation

Our new Foundation students are settling in well with the routines in the Art Room. They practised their modelling skills by kneading and rolling play dough and formed letters from their names. Using wax crayons they commenced a wax resistance art work, inspired by the book 'Commotion in the Ocean'. Next week the Foundation students will apply a blue food dye wash on their wax crayon drawings of ocean creatures. If you haven't already brought your child's art-smock to school, please bring it in this week.

Grade 1 and Grade 2

Students in Grades 1 and 2 have drawn self-portraits using grey lead and colouring pencils. At the end of this year, in Term 4, they will draw another self-portrait and compare them to celebrate how much they have changed and how their art skills and application of art elements have developed.

Grade 3 and Grade 4

Reflecting on their summer holidays, students in Grades 3 and 4 created a holiday 'Polaroid frame.' They focused on the art element space, including a foreground and a background in their work.

Grade 5 and Grade 6

There are many different types of lines and students in Grades 5 and 6 have created line drawing self-portraits made out of words. Using grey lead pencil they sketched (simple) outlines of their face and then replaced the grey lead lines with words describing themself, in coloured textas.
