PROPOSED SUPERMARKET

As you know there is a proposed supermarket to be built opposite the school on the old gas works site. The school council has been very active over the past few years in following this project and lobbying to ensure that our children and families will be able to safely access the school once the market is built.

We are very pleased to announce that, due to the work of our current and previous councilors, we will have a set of traffic lights included in the proposed supermarket project and this will ensure our children and community members can cross the highway safely any time of the day - not just when a crossing supervisor is present.

Traffic lights will be located on the corner of Forest St and Urquhart St and will enable children, parents, cyclists, and drivers to safely navigate around the school and across the highway any time of the day or night. Our teachers are particularly pleased with this outcome as the crossing will permit teachers and classes of students to safely walk across the highway to access the tennis courts and Wesley Hill Stadium.

I thank both past and present councilors who have worked on this issue over the past few years. A great outcome for our school and the safety of our students.
