FOUNDRY WALL SAFETY

As you know we have a section of our yard that includes the veggie patch that has been fenced off due to safety concerns with the rock wall that bounds the eastern side of the school yard.

The wall is the remnant wall of the 150 year old foundry. In recent times some rocks have fallen from the wall and so the department had the wall examined by an engineer to determine what could be done about it. The wall is part of the dwellings next door and so the management of the wall is a complex matter and may take some time to find a solution.

Unfortunately, the department has advised us that no person should enter the area due to the safety risk the wall poses. We currently have no timeline regarding when, and how this matter will be resolved and so next year we will work towards creating a veggie patch elsewhere in the schoolyard so that we can continue to provide the children opportunities to snack on some yummy fresh vegetables.
