REMINDER: Tertiary Open Days are here!

Attending Open Day events is a must for prospective tertiary students and their families as they provide unique and valuable opportunities to explore tertiary course options, learn more about courses of interest from academics and current students, whilst checking out the tertiary institution's facilities and services. Any student considering tertiary study in the next few years are encouraged to attend Open days – they are a great investment of your time and preparing beforehand will see you benefit the most from your Open day experience. VTAC applying for tertiary study in 2023 presentation – recording available

VTAC’s community information webinars have concluded and VTAC has now provided a recording of their presentation that guides you through the VTAC application process for courses commencing in 2023. Watch here.

List of VTAC 2023 entry courses with early closing dates

Some VTAC courses list an early closing date in the course information published on VTAC CourseSearch. These courses cannot be added to VTAC course preference lists once the early closing date has passed. A list of early closing courses for 2022 can be found here: www.vtac.edu.au/early-close And a REMINDER to Year 12s to submit a VTAC course application now so that you can begin your SEAS and Scholarships applications which close 7 October – you can resubmit your VTAC course application as many times as needed to change course preferences up to the deadline of 14 December 2022. Year 12s are to refer to the VTAC app info tab in the Careers channel on Teams for important info and guidance.

Casper test – tertiary course admission requirement

The Casper test is an admission requirement for Victorian undergraduate Teacher education courses, Victoria University Nursing courses and some interstate Veterinary Science courses. VTAC provides important information about the Casper admission test here and in this fact sheet. Further details about the Casper test is found at the below links from the Casper website.

ACU Guarantee early offer program

The ACU Guarantee allows students to have their Year 11 results considered for an ACU conditional early offer before final exams have been sat. Applications close 23 September 2022. Students are required to apply through the ACU Guarantee application portal and can choose to apply for up to 2 courses. Students will have to upload their Year 11 reports and provide up to three personal statements (maximum 200 words each) outlining their circumstances and motivation for university study – guidance on writing the ACU Guarantee personal statement is provided by ACU here. Students need to be mindful that not every course is participating in this program – visit the Application FAQs for details on the courses you cannot apply to and application requirements. Students must also list the ACU early offer course in their VTAC course preference list.

ADFA virtual Open Day 2022 – Saturday 20 August

At the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) you’ll start learning to become an Officer while undertaking a fully-funded degree from the University of New South Wales. A rewarding career as an Officer in the Navy, Army or Air Force awaits you, with over fifty jobs to choose from. Once you start work, the benefits keep growing - with travel, unique experiences, a fulfilling lifestyle and no HELP debt.  Applying for ADFA is a competitive, dual application process that can take up to 12 months. It's preferable you apply in Year 11, but you can still apply in Year 12 – you can find the multiple steps of the ADFA application process hereand learn more about ADFA on Saturday 20 August at their virtual Open Day.

Physics in High School & Beyond – online event on Sunday 21 August at 11am

If you love physics, register to hear from Jed Thompson, a 5th year PhD Physicist from Stanford University! Jed specialises in the fundamental laws of nature, dark matter, particle physics and all kinds of other very cool fields. Learn how to advance during high school, the top unis to aim for and ideas for how to conduct research in high school. This event is suitable for high school students and parents. Register here.

Science Gallery Melbourne STEAM Careers forum – Sustainability 

The second STEAM Careers Forum run by Science Gallery Melbourne focused on transdisciplinary careers and explored how the panellists are solving some of our most pressing global and local sustainability challenges. This forum showcased exciting pathways available to students interested in environment, sustainability and all things STEAM. Included in this recording is a tour of the incredibly popular exhibition Emu Sky which explores Indigenous land management, knowledge, science, plant use and language.
