Queen Victoria Market

Year 11 Business Management Excursion – August 5th

During Term 3, the Unit 1 & 2 Business Management students are focusing on the area of Marketing for their Unit 2 Area of Study 2 Assessment. In order to support the students in preparing their Market Day Stalls at school on 2nd September, Business Management teacher Mr Sacco brought the students to Melbourne’s iconic Queen Victoria Market, as the last of their two-part excursion. Huge thank you to Ms Wen who also came along and helped them through the day!

For the second part of the students’ excursion, they travelled to Queen Victoria Market to conduct a market investigations task. Students were to examine marketing practices from an array of different stalls, ranging from delis to technology to clothing. This would assist them with creating their own Market Day Stalls in Week 8. Some of the many practices that students observed included pricing strategies, promotion and advertising tactics, and customer communication.

Getting firsthand experience of how an effective market works provided the students with further insight towards perfecting their market day plans. As I hope you all already know, Nossal High School’s Market Day is happening during lunchtime on 2 September, Week 8. Year 11 Business Management students have been working tirelessly to research, organise, and plan for this important day, so make sure you keep an eye out for any information and updates posted around the school. All profits from these market day stalls will go out to selected charities, such as Red Cross and RSPCA.

To students & teachers, please remember to bring some cash on the day to show your support for your peers! Market Day 2022 is on Friday, September 2 at Lunch! See you there!
