YEAR 9 EXCEL Sport 2XU Triathlon

On Sunday 27th March, the Year 9 EXCEL Sport class competed in the 2XU Fun Tri at St Kilda Beach. The students spent 7 weeks training for the event in class time under the expert guidance of our resident Ironman Mr. Clark. The race consisted of a 300m swim, 13km bike ride and a 3km run. It was an outstanding day with the school being represented with distinction in the community by our EXCEL Sport students. All the students completed the event with a great sense of satisfaction and pride. Congratulations to Ollie Gleeson, Jaspar Rowley, and Stephen Segell for finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in our class for the boys, and Hannah Griffiths, Claudia McHugh and Alannah Upson for finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in our class for the girls. A special thank you to Mr. Clark for giving up his time throughout the term to assist in the training, Mr. Dew for competing with the students, and Mrs. Brand for giving up her Sunday to assist and support us in this event.

The aim of the day was to improve over the course of the tournament, and this was certainly achieved. A fantastic effort in their first EXCEL Sport competition. Year 10 EXCEL Sport Primary School Athletics Carnival

During the term, the Year 10 EXCEL Sport class was invited to attend and assist at the Carrum Primary School and Seaford North Primary School Athletics Carnivals. All of the students were divided into small groups, and then given an event to either marshal, record or measure. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to show case our program in the community and demonstrate the students’ ability to coordinate and supervise a sporting event. I was extremely proud of the maturity and responsibility displayed by the students throughout the day. The Carrum and Seaford North Primary School communities were highly complementary of our program and grateful for the assistance. Well done Year 10s.
