Parents Association

Dear STJ families and friends

We send you our love this week as we find ourselves in yet another lockdown. In our efforts to try to bring everyone together and remain focussed on supporting one another, we are pressing ahead with the organisation of some important, special and fun community activities in the coming months. Only time will tell whether we will need to make changes, and decisions will be made closer to the events. Our attitude is one of ‘onward and upward’ for the benefit of our children, but also of each other.

Please read over the important information updates about the following:

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle - Saturday August 7

Thank you to those who have volunteered to support us at our Sausage Sizzle at the Moorabbin Bunnings in two weeks time. We are in the final stages of organisation and still need three people to volunteer for the final shift of closing the sausage sizzle and packing down. If you are able to assist from 3.30pm-5pm please list your name on the roster below. Those who have volunteered will receive more information next week.

If you have not volunteered, you can still support by coming along on the day and buying 1,2 or 3 sausages to help us raise money for our school.

STJ Parent Night Out - Saturday August 28

We are so excited that we can all get together this year and have a fun night out! Due to the COVID pandemic in 2020, we were sadly unable to hold this event last year. We are thrilled we can make this event happen this year, and so we warmly invite all St James families to come along to this event and enjoy a fun night out reconnecting with old mates and forming new friendships.

Dress: Touch of the 80's (but the quirkier the better!)

Early bird tickets are $70 (purchase by 1st August) and include an alcoholic beverage on arrival, canapés and pizza throughout the night plus some fabulous entertainment.

You can purchase your tickets here at

https://www.trybooking.com/BSWYR

We will be hosting a live auction on the night to sell some beautiful artwork crafted by the children from each year level! In addition to this, we would love some donations to auction off. Any donations large or small, especially big ticket items that can help us raise funds for our school! You may be a business or know a business that can contribute products or a voucher (eg; hairdresser, beautician, vet, personal trainer), or perhaps you have a holiday house available for a weekend away or access to an experience that others will love.

If you can contribute, or have any further questions please contact us a parentsnightout2021@gmail.com

Numbers are limited due to venue density limits, so please take advantage of the early bird tickets and get in quick!!! We don't want you to miss out on the fun so make sure you join us as we wind the clock back to the 80’s.

STJ Colour Explosion Run - Friday September 10

This week we are launching our exciting Colour Explosion Run that will happen on Friday September 10 at Elsternwick Park. This is our major fundraising event for 2021, and will be an incredible day of fun for all. Our children will all participate in a child friendly obstacle course, working together to be fit and have an experience to remember! Yesterday you would have received a detailed letter containing all of the information including:

  • What happens on the day
  • What the children need to wear
  • How to set up your child’s fundraising profile
  • How your child can win prizes
  • Other important information

We urge you to please read over this letter so that you can understand how to get involved and FUNraise for the event. Next week when your child returns to school, they will receive their sponsorship booklet with further details of how they can set up their profiles to raise money and win prizes.

In the mean time, please watch this video with your children to see what all the fuss is about!

Please stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks!

Our next STJPA Meeting will be held on Thursday 29th July at 7.30pm via Google Meet. We will be looking for volunteers to help run the Fathers’ Day BBQ Breakfast on Thursday September 2, so please stay tuned.

Thank you for your ongoing support of your school, particularly during this hard time. Let’s stay positive for our kids!

Due to the latest lockdown, unfortunately the Movie Night was postponed.   The number of people who subscribed was fabulous and we will definitely reschedule once further information of when we can do so is received.
