SPORT

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to Term 3!

First of all in Sport this week, let's acknowledge the very exciting news that Brisbane will be hosting the 2032 Olympic Games. Who knows one of our very own past or present St James sporting heroes may be competing at this event!

Also I absolutely cannot wait to watch the Olympics this week.  I am not really a lover of watching sport on television...I would rather be out there doing it.  BUT what a treat to get to watch these games!!!!!

There is a lot on the Sport Calendar for Term 3 at St James, let’s just hope we can get through this lock down and kick back into action again.

AFL and Netball Lightning Premierships-cancelled from Term 2.

Unfortunately both the AFL and Netball Lightning Premierships have had to be cancelled. I understand this brings with it much disappointment and frustration particularly for our year 6 students. As I am sure you are aware, much planning goes into these days as every sports opportunity that is given, but, it was decided that if we keep postponing these events, it has a knock on effect for other events and the weeks end up extremely busy with activities out of the classroom.

Beachside Soccer- has been moved to the 9th August the venue for this date is yet to be confirmed. I will communicate with the team as soon as this information is available.

Hoop Time

Hoop Time is set to be played in the first two weeks of August. The Year 5 and 6 students will be travelling to MSAC by bus leaving from St James on Thursday the 5th of August at 8.30am games will commence at 9.15am.

The Year 3 and 4 students will also travel by bus to MSAC on Tuesday 10th August leaving St James at 8.30am and beginning competition at 9.15am.

Please ensure you have given consent for your child to attend via Operoo. Even if your child will not be participating in the day they will still be required to attend as a majority of students have opted to play on this day.

Students must wear their full sport uniform including WHITE socks and runners suitable to play on court surfaces. Students are not permitted to use the cafe on this day, therefore all required lunch and snacks must be brought from home. A drink bottle is ESSENTIAL.

Thank-you very much to all of the parents who have volunteered to assist on this day. Some of you have even volunteered for both days! Amazing. I will email you the details soon.

HOLT District Athletics

I am currently finalising teams but need to do this onsite with the students so I have not quite gotten to everyone yet. The HOLT Athletics Carnival will be held at Duncan McKinnon on Monday 6th September. More information on this will be given at a later date.

Take Care everyone and remember to keep as active as you can for your sanity!

Kind Regards,
