Student Behaviour and Engagement Framework 

At St Monica's College, we are committed to working collaboratively with families to ensure the best possible outcomes for every student. A key component of this commitment is our recently launched Behaviour and Engagement Framework, which provides a clear, consistent and evidence-based approach to supporting student wellbeing, engagement and learning across the College.

The Framework was introduced to staff during a recent Professional Development Day. Grounded in evidence-based practices, the Framework recognises the importance of effective classroom management and positive teacher-student relationships in creating learning environments where all students feel safe, supported and able to thrive. This work continues through ongoing professional learning and collaboration to ensure consistent implementation across all campuses.

Our students have been introduced to the Framework through presentations at Year Level Assemblies, with further opportunities for discussion and reinforcement continuing throughout the year. These presentations focused on developing a shared understanding of our College expectations and reinforcing that the Framework is designed to support a safe, respectful and engaging learning environment for every student.

Students were introduced to the core values of Respect, Responsibility and Safety, with a particular emphasis on Tier 1, which outlines the positive behaviours that contribute to successful learning and a strong College community. These behaviours include being punctual, prepared for learning, respectful in interactions with others, actively participating in class and representing the College with pride.

Over the coming weeks, families will receive further information about the Behaviour and Engagement Framework via email, including additional details about its purpose, structure and implementation across the College. We recognise that achieving the best outcomes for students is strengthened through a genuine and productive partnership between home and school. By maintaining open communication, shared expectations and a collective commitment to student growth, we can work together to support every student's learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging.
