Democracy Rocks in 3-4LG

What a fantastic term we are having in 3-4LG.

We are continually focusing on building a classroom environment where all students can learn and teachers can teach. Students are reflecting on the importance of being engaged in tasks, trying their best, persisting when things become difficult and supporting each other with kindness, manners and encouragement. It is so pleasing to see all students giving their best efforts and moving forward with learning achievements. Go team!

Of course, there are lots of other exciting events that happen throughout the term; here are a few we would love to share!

ALL ABOUT NATURE

Like all 3-4 classes, we have spent time learning about the natural world and living creatures. We learnt how to classify a creature by its features, such as reptiles having scales and mammals having live babies. Our final work task of the learning unit was to select a living creature, research its lifecycle and build our presentation skills by making a poster and presenting a talk to the class. The posters were very detailed and carefully created. The students also grew in confidence and presented very well to the class.

MOTHER’S DAY

It was so lovely to welcome all the mothers and special women into the classroom. The students were very excited.

DEMOCRACY INCURSION

To acknowledge, celebrate and build upon our learning in class about citizenship and democracy, we enjoyed an incursion last week on Thursday. The students listened attentively to the presenter and were given roles in local council, including one student dressing up as mayor. They then participated in a mock council meeting with roles allocated. They also experienced what it would be like to vote on issues in real council settings.

What a great finish to our learning on Democracy and Citizenship!
