A Phillip Island Camp Reflection by 5/6G!

On the 18th of May, the 5/6 level set off to the island to experience the CYC camp which brought about new adventures, friendships and experiences. The 5/6s were fortunate to participate in several activities enabling them to experience new things, step outside of their comfort zones and have lots of fun! Some of the activities on offer were: the Twin Flying Fox, Giant Swing, Team Rescue, Camp Cooking, Canoeing, Low Ropes/Boulder Wall as well as exploring A Maze ‘n’ Things.
Both during and after camp, we had the chance to stop and reflect on our time and have a moment be grateful for this opportunity. There were many highlights. We have chosen just a few to share with you!
Esther:
Camp was super fun, my favourite thing was the giant swing. I loved camp because I got to spend time with my friends. Even though it was sooo hard to sleep, I still had the time of my life!
Timothy:
I found camp really fun because there were so many activities. One of my favourite activities was the giant swing. The twin flying fox was also really fun and I did it with my partner Bryan. Sleeping was pretty good too. It's really fun to sleep in the cabins with your friends for the first time. Overall, I found camp AMAZING and I can't wait to go again.
Grace:
When I was at camp, there were a lot of things to try out. I learned how to play ga-ga, I tried the giant swing and all of my friends were there to have fun with me. Something I really enjoyed was the twin flying fox because it was really fun and smooth. A fear I overcame at camp was my fear of heights, I would not normally push myself to go on the twin flying fox, but I did it anyway.
Alex:
I found camp really fun and enjoyable! My favourite thing at camp was the giant swing. When you go to the top and pull the rope, your stomach drops and you fly down and swing back and forth! At camp, I learnt I don't always need a screen.
Nina:
My favourite thing at camp was the giant swing. I have a fear of heights but I faced my own fears! The giant swing was really fun but it was really scary. I would want to go on it again.
Chiara:
Camp was so much fun and there were so many fun activities like the giant swing, twin flying foxes and canoeing. We also got to visit A Maze 'n' Things which was really fun. The food there was good and I was so happy to celebrate my birthday on camp. I got to spend time with my friends and got to be independent and push myself to go on things even if I was afraid. One thing that made me smile was when my friends celebrated my birthday and got me presents. In the end, camp was really enjoyable and I had so many fun experiences.
Isaac:
I enjoyed canoeing because it was fun to have good coordination with my friend and be in sync in order to go straight. We got wet slightly but it was both fun and scary because we thought the boat would capsize. I also enjoyed the twin flying fox because we got an amazing view of the campsite and the breeze was nice to feel on my face, and we still somehow got wet. Finally, I learnt how to cook marshmallows. We sat by the campfire and made mouth watering marshmallows, very yummy and gooey.
Dylan:
I enjoyed the wonderful food and activities they had at the Phillip Island Adventure Resort. The Camp Staff there helped out in a lot of things and my cabin mates were really kind to me. I also loved it when we went to Amaze ’n’ Things because of their fun challenges.
Thompson:
A time that made me smile is when I won a round of gaga ball. An activity I would love to do again is the twin flying fox. A new activity I tried was canoeing. I learned that not everything I do has to be in my comfort zone.
Hayley:
My favourite part of each day was participating in all the fun activities, like the giant swing and the twin flying fox. When I first looked at both of them, I really wanted to try it, since I am a huge fan of heights. Another great part of each day was hanging out with my friends and cabin mates during the activities. I also enjoyed playing volleyball or just having a chat together with my friends during free time.
