Careers Update

It is a busy time in the careers department presently! This week we began the Year 12 VTAC interviews, with students making their applications for university study. We are encouraging our Year 12s and other students to be visiting the many University and TAFE Open days that are currently running. Last week was our biannual Future Insights Event and this week our Year 10 students are on work experience.

Future Insights Event

18 guest speakers from a range of careers spoke to our Year 9-12 students as part of our Future Insights event. We had Indi, a pilot and Linda the Repairs Manager from Jetstar, who gave a fascinating insight into some of the behind the scenes work that they do with the airline. We also had speakers from Allied Health, Sport, Nursing, Science, Commerce and Business, Creative Arts, Law, Engineering and IT. The students heard about what lead them to study in these areas, what was involved in their course and what they did in their jobs. They spoke about challenges in their roles and gave advice to students in relation to their career journey. We heard many positive comments from students and are very thankful to these professionals for giving up their time to come and speak to us.
