Year 10 Update
Creating first impressions
What is my brand?
It’s hard to believe we are in week four already. For the Year 10s there has been GSV sport, OH&S training, transition activities, careers counselling, subject selection, memory books and the Future Insights afternoon.
In our recent Wellbeing session, students explored the concept of self-branding as a vital part of preparing for Work Experience this week. Self-branding involves creating a unique and consistent image that highlights your strengths, skills, and values, helping you stand out to potential employers. Developing a strong self-brand is especially important as students have this amazing opportunity to experience firsthand potential future pathways and careers. It’s the chance to make first good impressions and show potential prospective employers what makes you unique, whether it’s a particular skill set, a distinctive work ethic, or specific passions.
Making a lasting first impression can open doors to future opportunities, and self-branding is key to achieving this. The Year 10s reflected on their strengths, experiences, and values as the foundation of their self-brand. By clearly communicating your unique value and maintaining a consistent professional image, you set yourself up for success. So remember Year 10s, your self-brand is your professional identity – make it count!
I look forward to hearing your stories when you return to school next week.
