Discover and Connect

Term 1 Connect:
This term, our Year 9 students have been taking their learning outside of the classroom through the Year 9 Connect Program, exploring ways to engage with and contribute to the wider community.
Students have visited a range of inspiring community organisations, gaining firsthand experiences and insights. They explored the Islamic Museum of Australia, deepening their understanding of cultural diversity and the importance of inclusion. At The Big Issue, students learned about social enterprise and how businesses can support vulnerable communities.
Our visits to the Yarra Youth Centre and the Pride Centre offered opportunities for students to engage with local youth services and understand the value of support networks, empathy, and advocacy in fostering safe and inclusive spaces for all young people.
Through these experiences, Year 9 students have not only broadened their knowledge of the community but have also developed skills in communication, teamwork, and social responsibility. The Connect Program continues to provide meaningful experiences that help students make a positive impact while learning beyond the classroom walls.
Term 1 Discover:
This term, our Year 10 students have been engaging in the Discover My Future Program, designed to support them in making informed decisions about their senior secondary pathways and future career goals.
Students had the opportunity to visit RMIT University and ACU, exploring courses, campus life, and the pathways available to them after school. These visits gave students valuable insights into tertiary education options and helped them connect their current studies with future aspirations.
In addition, students have been actively preparing for work experience placements, identifying industries and organisations aligned with their interests and career goals. Early next term, students will continue their exploration with visits to the NCAT and Melbourne Polytechnic, further broadening their understanding of vocational and higher education pathways.
Through these experiences, Year 10 students are developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make decisions that will shape their senior years and beyond, setting them on a path towards their personal and professional ambitions.
