Katie Williams - Year 6 Emus
At a recent event, Katie was announced as the winner of the Catholic Education Western Australia Young Leadership Award in the 2024 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards for WA. It is quite a remarkable achievement for Katie, given her age, as the purpose of the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards is to acknowledge, encourage and promote the positive achievements of all young people throughout Western Australia, 30 years of age and under. Hence, the relevance of the group photo showing all the winners.

Katie has also recently been highly commended in the 2023/2024 State and Territory Landcare Award for the category: Woolworths Junior Landcare Award.
‘The 2023/2024 State & Territory Landcare Awards acknowledge and celebrate the individuals, groups and organisations working to protect local ecosystems that contribute to the sustainability and productivity of our land and water assets for the benefit of all Australians today, and for generations to come’.
Katie’s story “Rooted in Action: A Young Landcarer’s Mission to Preserve the Environment” has been added to the ‘Junior Landcarers in Action’ section (link: https://juniorlandcare.org.au/junior-landcarers-in-action), and provides a summary of her contribution to the conservation of endangered animals and to landcare.
