Reconciliation
Last week, some of our Year Three students received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. This was a special step on their faith journey.
In the Catholic Church, the Sacrament of Penance, also called the Sacrament of Reconciliation is a sacrament of healing, forgiveness and restoring of right relationships.
When Catholics celebrate this Sacrament, they have the opportunity as individuals and as a community to think about their lives, to understand their need for God’s forgiveness and to ask for forgiveness and healing.
When Catholics go to the Sacrament of Penance, they:
- stop and think about their lives
- take responsibility for their words and actions
- express their sorrow and ask for God’s forgiveness
- promise to do better in their relationships with others
The Sacrament of Penance is not a one off, and can be received many times!
