Year 4 Zoo Excursion
Last week, the Year 4 students embarked on an exciting excursion to the Zoo, where they delved into the wonders of wildlife. The highlight of the trip was the visit to the Australian Adventurer section. Here the students enjoyed a guided tour, engaging in fun and educational activities that deepened their understanding of our native animals and their roles in the ecosystem.
The guided tour was an eye-opener, as the students learned fascinating facts about kangaroos, koalas, numbats, and other native Australian animals. They discovered how these creatures adapt to their environments and the importance of conservation efforts to protect their habitats. Interactive activities, such as touching animal pelts and examining different types of food that these animals eat, made the experience both informative and enjoyable.
After the guided tour, the students had the opportunity to explore the rest of the zoo in groups. They marvelled at the diversity of animals from around the world, including majestic lions, playful monkeys, and exotic birds. The sight of the elephants and the antics of the penguins were particular favourites among the students.
The excursion was a fantastic blend of education and fun, leaving the Year 4 students with lasting memories and a greater appreciation for the animal kingdom.
