INTERSCHOOL BASKETBALL COMPETITION

Year 7 Basketball

Thursday 21st August saw our Year 7 Male/Mixed and Female Basketball teams take to the court in the South Gippsland Interschool Basketball tournament at Korumburra Recreation Centre. With a large number of teams registered on the day, to accommodate the number of teams, there were two draws created. This saw our Year 7 Girls team play Mary MacKillop and Bass Coast - Dudley Campus.

The girls were quite competitive in their first match and with a minute on the clock it was anyone’s game.  Unfortunately, the Mary Mac team took advantage of the ball and took the win. Game 2 saw a strong  Bass Coast team work together to claim victory in the girls second match. There was some great sportsmanship and teamwork displayed by many on the team, and their spirit remained high despite the outcome of the day.

The Boys team were a little luckier with a win in their first match of the day against Mary MacKillop. The second match saw the boys face the challenge of Bass Coast College Dudley Campus. The boys worked hard on court to make the most of the ball, however they were unable to convert a number of shots, leading to their first defeat of the day. Their second match against Bass Coast College – San Remo saw the boys once again work together as a team, but again, the opposition outscored our Burra boys.

The support on and off the court was incredible with the players lifting one another when it mattered most.

Well done to those that played on the day, to Dallas Walker, Leah Kirkbride and Ainsley Logan for your coaching and student leadership on the day, Ms Lloyd for supporting the day and to Ms Wilson for stepping in last minute. Thankyou to the parents that also supported the students – it was great to have you cheering on the sidelines.
