In order to prioritise student safety, the College Leadership Team is present after school each day, to supervise students when buses arrive. At the same time, we have observed parents coming into the school grounds at these busy times. Please be aware that there is no access to the school grounds before and after school. This is essential to ensure that when high numbers of students are entering or leaving the school grounds, they are safe from vehicles. Of course, there are exceptions and provisions made if there are mobility issues for students.
At the same time, please do not park in designated bus spaces or use the school driveway as a drop off or pick up zone. Student safety is our priority. We acknowledge how busy Byron St can be during peak times. Mullum Mullum Road may well be a better alternative. We ask for your support to keep our students safe.
As mentioned in the last newsletter, we are currently in the midst of a School Review. These take place every four years, to provide advice to schools on their strategic direction for the next four years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank students for participating in focus groups and to parents/carers for providing feedback in the online survey or in person.
Given the recent Government changes to uniform for 2026, Semester 2 will provide families and students with an opportunity to be consulted in the development of an updated Uniform Code/Policy. The Student Representative Council are particularly active in the area of uniform matters. Last term SRC brought to our attention that the white shirts, on top of trousers, were too short. Our uniform supplier, Dobsons, have already agreed to a change in design for the next shipment of white shirts, to ensure a much longer length. Thank you to the students on SRC who are responsive to such matters. We appreciate your leadership.
