It has been a busy start to Term 2 for the Production Team and cast of Oliver! with singing, blocking, choreography, rehearsals, costume and set construction, and the sourcing of smaller set and prop items, including ripe strawberries and mouldy sausages! We are exceedingly grateful to both the Year 11 and Year 12 Vocational Major students for their contributions to the elaborate set and prop pieces.
The Open Night rehearsal showcased just what a ‘Fine Life’ is to be had by students involved in the Norwood Production, with Fagin (Logan) and his merry band of thieves accompanying Bett (Liana) and Nancy (Alex) in their song of defiance against the rigidity of the Victorian class system.
Early renditions of the fizz and spangle of the hauntingly delightful ‘Who Will Buy?’, featuring Rose, Strawberry and Milk sellers (Lexi, Aoife and Audrey), Knife Grinder (Judah) and Oliver (Emily), have sparked a fierce bidding war among all involved in the show!
This week’s full-day rehearsal was full of Oom-Pah-Pah-fun, thanks to the raucous choreography of the fabulous Hayley and the powerful pipes of Nancy, played by the supremely talented Alex.
Oliver! has a three-night run at the Karralyka Theatre Centre from 28–30 August 2025. Tickets will be available for purchase by the broader school community early in Term 3. Stay tuned – you won’t want to miss this knock-out production.
