GPA Reports

Students will receive their latest GPA reports this week. These reports serve as a valuable snapshot of academic progress, offering insight into their strengths as well as areas for improvement.

We encourage families to take this opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with their child about their current performance and study habits. With further assessments and end-of-semester exams fast approaching, now is the perfect time for students to set realistic and achievable goals that will help them finish the term on a strong note.

Some key ways families can support students during this period include:

  • Reviewing the GPA report together – Celebrate achievements and identify areas that may need further focus.

  • Setting specific, actionable goals – Encourage students to outline steps they can take to improve or maintain their performance.

  • Planning study schedules – Balance the preparation for assessments with a continued focus on well-being to ensure that progress is sustained.

  • Seeking additional support if needed – Whether it’s guidance from teachers or using school resources, seeking proactive help can make a difference.

As we enter this busy phase of the term, fostering a postive mindset and resilience will ensure that our students are approaching their studies with much more confidence.

Acceptable Technology Use

At Norwood Secondary College (NSC) we are committed to building a culture of respect and responsibility. We show this in the way we use technology and interact online.

We provide a filtered internet service to block inappropriate content. Full protection from inappropriate content cannot be guaranteed, however, we have processes to report and act on inappropriate content.

It has come to our attention that some students have installed a VPN or Virtual Private Network software which allows them to access blocked content online. This behaviour is in breach of the Digital Technologies Acceptable Use Agreement. Breaches of this policy by students can result in a number of consequences which will depend on the severity of the breach and the context of the situation. This includes:

  • removal of internet access privileges

  • removal of printing privileges

  • other consequences as outlined in the school’s Student Wellbeing and Engagement and Bullying Prevention policies.

As parents and carers, we would appreciate your support in having conversations with your child about their technology use so that we can prevent, respond, and learn from issues or incidents that may arise. If your child has installed VPN software on their device, please assist them in removing it to ensure the safe and appropriate use of technology.
