Books and Brownies Returns!

Back by popular demand this year’s Book and Brownies kicked off on Tuesday, 20 May in the library. 10 students joined Miss Mill, the Librarian, to discuss the books they are currently reading and their favourite genres over hot chocolate and home-made chocolate brownies. The students finished their time together browsing some of the brand new books that have been added to the catalogue with the first chance to borrow them. This event will happen once a month over term 2 and 3. The sign-up sheet for next month will be available from Monday 16th June for the next session on Tuesday 24th June. Places are limited and fill up fast.

This year’s Reading Challenge has gone off with a bang! It looks like Kalinda has accepted the challenge to try and overthrow our reigning champions for the last 2 years: Yarra House. Students in Years 7 – 9 are eligible to enter and have been so good at recording their reading, keep up the good work and keep reading everyone.

Guest Speaker: Katherine from Debut Books - Friday 13 June lunch time

Join us at lunch time on Friday, 13 June in the library to hear Katherine, a former Norwood Student, share the story of how in early 2020 she created Debut Books. As well as having a career that has spanned all aspects of the publishing industry, in early 2020 Katherine created Debut Books, an independent publishing company, as well as taking on the challenging role of becoming a literary agent herself. Come hear her story of advocacy and passion for those without a voice in the publishing world.

You will need to book in to attend this closed session. The sign-up sheet will be available at the front desk in the library from Monday, 26 May.
