Last Friday, our Year 9 iSTEM students stepped inside the fascinating world of aviation at Qantas Mascot HQ, as part of the Nextgen Aviators Program, meeting an incredible group of women and discovering the diverse careers that could take them into the airline industry. From the cockpit and aircraft engineering to cybersecurity, analytics and beyond, students heard first-hand about career journeys and the skills, curiosity and confidence that can help shape their futures. A highlight of the ‘Girls in Aviation’ event was hearing from A380 Captain and Head of Safety Debbie Slade before connecting with Qantas professionals during an inspiring networking session and exploring the innovation behind Project Sunrise. A huge thank you to Georgie Dunstan and the Qantas Early Talent Team for opening the doors to our students and helping them discover what’s possible, meet people who inspire them and say yes to the next opportunity. Click here for a video of the big day

Our Year 10 iSTEM students are one step closer to launching Future Horizons, their WSI Soaring Scholarship project designed to inspire the next generation of STEM thinkers through aviation and hands-on learning. Isabel and Keya recently met with Bethany Primary School’s Acting Principal Rebecca Lloyd and Stage 3 teachers Chloe Dean-Dewstow (CCC Class of 2014) and Natasha Pullen to pitch their ideas and share how their concept has evolved into an exciting series of lesson plans. In November, the students will become STEM mentors for Years 5 and 6, delivering three weeks of learning focused on STEM Fundamentals, Aeronautical Engineering and Space Design. We’re excited to see Future Horizons take flight and thank Bethany Primary for partnering with us to spark curiosity, broaden career horizons and help young people discover STEM pathways they may never have considered.

As our Class of ’26 graduates this week, we recently celebrated and acknowledged the incredible investment our Year 12 students have made in their futures, with nearly 300 pathways and career opportunities accessed this year alone. From Lunch & Learn, university programs, industry mentoring and work experience to personalised coaching with our Pathways Team, almost 100 students received Gold, Silver or Bronze Pathways Accreditations in recognition of their commitment, curiosity and determination. We couldn’t be prouder of our Year 12s as they build their pathway beyond school!  Click here to see the video of the presentation

The 2027 CSPD Teacher Scholarship Program offers 30 scholarships for 2026 graduates commencing a teaching degree, including $5,000 per year, a laptop, paid employment, mentoring and priority employment pathways. Applications close Sunday, 8 November, and interested graduates can still contact the Pathways Team for coaching and application support, even after graduating from CCC.

For students unsure about their career and pathways options, wanting to talk through a decision, or simply need someone to help work out their next move - they can come and see us in the Library or email:
