WEEK 10 | TERM 1

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

After the busy NAPLAN period, we got back into our normal routines. In writing we have been working on persuasive writing; stating opinions, reasons and examples, then adding in persuasive devices such as high modality words, rhetorical questions, facts and repetition. 

Whilst reading, our Grade 3 students have been learning to infer. This involves them using clues from the text and their prior knowledge to deepen their understanding of what was happening in the text.

In numeracy, we have been learning different strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems such as jump strategy and split strategies. Using concrete materials such as counters, MAB and number lines has made our learning lots of fun. 

We celebrated Harmony Day with cultural activities and dress up day. Students happily shared where their families are from and what they love about their cultures.
