In Writing, the Grade 2 cohort have been learning to engage with narratives using a writer’s lens. This began when we identified some of the major elements of narratives such as the characters, setting, problem, events, and solution. From there, we explored and discussed how each of these elements contribute to a narrative and why they are so important.
This unit has also been evoking a lot of student creativity and connection-making. Students have been brainstorming their own ideas for characters, settings, problems and solutions, preparing them for the task of writing their own personal narratives. It has been a joy to see where their inspiration has taken them so far.
