What a fantastic term of learning we have had in Prep. It has been wonderful to see the students becoming more confident and enthusiastic as they develop their early reading and writing skills.
This term, our phonics sessions have focused on explicitly teaching the letter sounds: M, A, T, S, E, B, O, L, F, G
Throughout our daily learning, students have been:
- Practising saying and recognising each letter sound
- Using their knowledge to begin blending sounds together to read simple words
- Attempting to write words using the sounds they hear
- Engaging in games, songs, and interactive tasks to reinforce their learning
Over the holiday break, we encourage you to continue reinforcing what we have been learning in class. Please take some time to practise the letter sounds using the flashcards that were sent home. Regular, short practice sessions will help your child retain and build on these important skills.
