Pathways at LESC
Helping every student discover their strengths and shape their future.
The Careers Team has been busy working alongside our Year 11 and 12 VCE-VM students to support them in securing valuable workplace learning opportunities across a range of industries.
These placements are a vital part of the VCE-VM program, allowing students to develop practical skills, build confidence, and gain firsthand experience in real-world work environments. This term, students have successfully begun placements in industries including hospitality, construction, automotive, early childhood education, agriculture, welding and fabrication, aged care, veterinary & retail, reflecting the diverse interests and career aspirations within our cohort.
Through these experiences, students are not only developing employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, but also gaining a clearer understanding of potential career pathways. For many, this is an important step in making informed decisions about their futures beyond school.
The Careers Team would like to extend our sincere thanks to the local businesses and community organisations who have generously supported our students by providing these opportunities. These partnerships are invaluable in helping bridge the gap between education and employment.
Looking ahead, the Careers Team is now focusing on supporting our Year 10 students to secure employers for their upcoming Work Experience program, which will take place in Week 2 of Term 2 (week commencing 27 April). This is an important milestone in the Year 10 program, as students begin to explore possible pathways into Years 11 and 12. Work Experience provides an opportunity for students to test their interests, develop workplace skills, and gain insight into the expectations of employers.
We encourage families to support students in seeking out placements and to reach out to the Careers Team if assistance is required. We look forward to seeing our Year 10 students take this exciting next step in their career development.
