Sports Update

Our Year 7 students have been working through a range of sports, with a focus on building their Fundamental Motor Skills.
These are the basic movement skills that support everything else in sport, things like running, jumping and hopping, as well as throwing, catching, kicking and balance. They are usually developed in early years, but continue to be really important as students grow and take part in more complex activities.
Building these skills helps students feel more confident, improves coordination and makes it easier to pick up new sports and movements.
In soccer, these skills come into play all the time. Students are constantly running, changing direction and adjusting their speed, while also kicking, passing and controlling the ball. Balance is just as important, especially when dribbling, shielding or competing for possession.
By continuing to develop these skills, students are becoming more confident and capable, and are better prepared to take their soccer skills into both training and game situations.
