With only two weeks left of the term, we are continuing to make the most of every learning opportunity. While students may be starting to feel a little tired after a busy term, we are staying focused and motivated. Students will keep engaging in meaningful learning experiences, practising important skills, and celebrating the progress everyone has made. These final weeks are a valuable time for students to strengthen their learning and finish the term feeling proud of their efforts.

Our Learning - Weeks 8 & 9

In English, students will:

-learn Stage 7.1 digraphs - ai, ay, ee, ea.

-read words, phrases and sentences with the focus digraphs.

-spell and write words with the focus digraphs.

-discuss vocabulary in texts.

-ask questions before, during and after reading.

-write an incursion recount and a narrative text.

-discuss parts of a story, including characters, setting, problem and solution.

-use a story map to plot the key events of the story.

-include capital letters and full stops in sentences.

-continue to practise handwriting of lower-case tall stick letters b, d, f, h, k, l.

 

 

In Mathematics, students will:

-compare and order objects using attributes and language of length and explain reasoning.

-measure the length of familiar objects using a range of informal units including unifix, paper clips, popsicle sticks and counters.

-line up units end to end and ensure there are no gaps.

-ask questions to collect data and create a picture graph using the results.

-continue to build number fluency through Ninja Number Sliders.

 

 

In Inquiry students will:

-participate in the Cultural Explosion incursion and Harmony Day which focuses on understanding different cultures and developing an appreciation for cultural diversity.

-discuss ways communities care for places and make a plan to care for our school.

-identify friendships and how they change over time.

 

 

In S.E.L (Social, Emotional, Learning), students will:

-learn about positive coping strategies including calming down and cheering up and strategies to manage anxiety.

 

News and Reminders:

  • Monday 23rd March - Family Fun Night
  • Friday 27th March - SRC Dress Up Day, come dressed as something that matches the first letter of your name.
  • Please make sure your child brings along their school hat each day. Children without a hat will spend recess and lunch playing in shaded areas or in the Wellbeing Room.
  • Remind your child to bring in their blue reader bag every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to swap their reader.
