On the 5th of March this year, the Norwood school community came together to participate in our annual investiture assembly: a time to congratulate all of the students who have been given the amazing opportunity to become school leaders for 2025 and to welcome our new students. The investiture assembly also gave us the platfom to celebrate the amazing work of our year 12 students who graduated as a part of Norwood’s class of 2024.

During the assembly, we were privileged to hear from our school principal, Mrs Harris as she drew from the leadership example displayed by Neale Daniher, 2025 Australian of the year. Mrs Harris highlighted Daniher’s strength and resilience calling out that, despite all he has had to deal with when it comes to his diagnosis with MND and the set backs that have come along with it, he has still been able to focus on the positives in his life, taking the opportunity to increase awareness of MND across the country. What an amazing message!

We’re so grateful for Daniher’s example and the example of last year's graduating class of Year 12 students. 2025 is going to be a great year!

On the 25th of March, Norwood had the school’s annual Athletics Carnival at Ringwood Athletics Track. For all of our new Year 7 students, this was an amazing opportunity to participate for the first time.

Everybody who participated on the day received points for their house, including those who cheered loudly, supporting their friends and exhibiting school spirit. Students had numerous chances to participate in the events as they were scattered over both track and field. Additionally, there were novelty activities like tug-of-war and the three-legged race. Ms. B also set up a craft table where students could create posters and signs to support their houses and friends.

Our Year 12 students dressed up for the event, carrying on the tradition. Everyone had a great day, and they all looked fantastic in their creative costumes. Seeing how enthusiastic the Year 12s were for our final school athletics carnival was fantastic.

Kalinda were the winners of the 2025 Athletics Carnival. Congratulations to all those who took part and earned points for their house! We are looking forward to our next whole school sporting event, our school Cross Country and our Term 2 inter-school sports!
