Jazz Night 24 May Hall 7pm-9pm
This is one of the highlights of our program! All our ensembles will be performing (except Junior Band). We also have a local professional Jazz Band “Plan B” performing and accompanying our senior singers. We have some incredible talent at the College.
Tickets will be available through TryBooking from 6 May and a link will be advertised through the Compass Newsletter.
The hall will be set up with round tables and families are invited to bring their own supper and refreshments to enjoy while listening to the music. This is a fabulous community event and is always a sell out, so get in fast when tickets go live.
Music Camp 28-30 July at Oasis Camp Mt Evelyn
Planning is underway for the annual Music Camp and the Compass Event will come up soon. The camp involves ensemble rehearsals and a variety of activities such as candle making, archery and the Giant Swing!
All ensembles are attending including :Junior Band, Concert Band, Junior Strings, Snr String Orchestra, Chamber Strings and Chorale.
All medical forms need to be returned by 6 June at the latest this year.
Music Showcase 11 September Hall 7pm-9pm
This is a big event as our ensembles will be performing works prepared on camp. Mark this date in your diary! There is no entry cost for this concert.
Performance Blacks- what does this mean?
All ensembles (with the exception of Junior Band) are required to wear “performance blacks” to most music performances. The music department has some spare shirts and pants which can be loaned out. See Mr Matthew Evans.
Performance Blacks are:
Black tailored shirt with long sleeves or ¾ length sleeves (not t shirts)
Black tailored pants (no logos) or knee length black skirt. No tracksuits or leggings.
Black socks and clean, black shoes ( polished school shoes are good)
No jewellery except studs and hair neatly groomed
Junior Band will wear their school uniform to performances.
Junior Band starting Term 2, Week 2
Mr Jaaz will be taking Junior Band this year. He has emailed all families to remind students to bring their instruments on Tuesdays every week, plus their Essential Elements books, a pencil and a music folder.
Rehearsals are after school until 4pm. Junior Band are also invited to Music Camp.
